Birthdays are made of this!!

This is one long pending post. Nothing to do with Paper Crafting.. mm.. well, maybe a little bit :)

For the last 3 birthdays in our home - K’s 4th and 5th, and A’s 2nd – we’ve been having the birthday celebration at our home.. the decoration and cake (yes, cakes too) are all home-made and hand-made.. It has been a lot of fun.

Today let me introduce you K’s 4th birthday party – the theme being ‘Rainbows’.

I’ll not write too much.. and let the pictures speak :) More fun that way :)

The decorations in Rainbow colours – I skipped Indgo :)

CraftyJC Rainbow Birthday Shoes

Hand painted shoes with Rainbows and Sunshine.. Because she is My Sunshine and Rainbow. Love you K.
Both shoes have different themes..

Regular BATA canvas shoes, the print was hand sketched, outlined with permanent markers and then coloured in with Acrylic paints. It still is very pretty.

Tutorials & Recipes I used

  • The Rainbow butterfly mobile using the Sizzix Die : Birds & Butterflies Set
  • Rainbow cake recipe: Sin-a-mon
  • Rainbow Balloons – Design Mom
  • Painted Shoes – google. – The design is all mine, copyrighted and all that .. you can use it for your own purposes :)

I’ll soon post pics of the A’s second and K’s 5th birthdays… and not wait till K turns 7! :)))
I hope this inspires you to try this at home :) Any questions, please ask .. I am more than happy to help.

Cheers

Color me Rainbow

Hello there!!

A quick post with a sweet card. The same darling couple you saw here  (this one was a finalist in Itsy Bitsy challenge, yay!) and here (as an outline only) make yet another appearance :)

Stamped a white panel with the hearts border in rainbow colours, stamped the couple directly on the panel, and then stamped the couple in another card stock, which I then water coloured.

I hand cut the couple image and mounted it on the panel.. the whole thing was then mounted on the base card stock.

Colurful huh??!? :)

Thank you, teachers

It is end of the academic and it’s time to show them our gratitude.

K is completing her first year in formal schooling. I can’t help but look back in wonder and thanks to God for all the blessings. One of the important and most special blessings being the teachers in K’s ‘Lower K. G.’ (as the children call it). K’s class teachers have been so kind to the children, and us parents too.

So, I made these to show our gratitude to the teachers. A small thank you.

Everything you see here comes from one stamp set - Clearly Besotted Stamps Teacher’s Pet. Love.

First up a set of three cards

The first card I made is inspired by the sentiment in the stamp set. I made a faux blackboard by stamping the sentiment in white and clear embossing it on black paper. I then framed this using Sizzix Instant Frames (as always everything is linked at the bottom of the post). The card’s background is using the Pencil line image which comes along with this stamp set in three different colours. I had great fun aligning all those pencils in different directions.

As you can see, I added some glossy accents to the apple.
Apple, apple.. red apple… juicy apple… Who’s reminded of Snow White? :) That was a line from the play when I was in my 2nd standard :)

In the next card I used the outline apple images along with the solid ones.. love love the effect. I also stamped and heat embossed in white, the coffee mug.

The last one is an ode to water colours.  I love water colours. :) I stamped the pencils similar to the first card – but in black.. and went to town with ware colours. Soo much fun.

I am leaving this card as is – since I am entering this to Simplicity One layer Challenge – Use Water.
And finally  - a small fridge magnet (measuring 5.5x5 inches) which will go with the card for each teacher. Made using similar techniques as the first card – but added faux stitching using white gel pen to echo the white dotted lines in the apple. And of course topped the apple with Glossy Accent.

That was so much fun isn’t it :)
